4/5/2016 King's Ranch and Kingsville area, Texas:  A big thank you to the King's Ranch staff and our very
knowledgeable guide Barbara who made our tour so enjoyable.  We were able to see the Ferruginous
Pygmy-Owl though wind and distance was a factor for photography.  Also shown: Hooded Oriole (m),
Pyrrhuloxia (f,m,), Scissor-tailed Flycatcher , Vermilion Flycatcher (m), Wild Turkey (S. TX subspecies),
Northern Cardinal (f), and Inca Dove .  Also, A Tropical Parula was found!
We will post some of our favorite, more recent pictures here first!

4/2/2016 to 4/18/2016   We traveled to Texas along the coast from Sabine Woods via Matagorda and
Kingsville down to South Padre Island and Brownsville.  Then, our trip took us up along the Rio Grande
where we tried to pick up some Mexican border species.  We had a blast in great weather!
4/6/2016   South Padre Island, Brownsville, TX:  A real treat was to see a pair of Aplomado Falcons nesting.
While the nest was distant, one falcon did come soaring down to investigate the brush.  Photos are not
great but it WAS very cool to see this rare bird!  Also, Brewer's Blackbird, Eurasian-collared Dove , a
kettle of juvenile Swainson's Hawks soaring around us (Also awesome!) , Harris's Hawk , Mottle Duck ,
Black-bellied Whistling-Duck , and Blue-winged Teal pair.
