2/5/2015 to 2/27/2015 We flew to the "End of the World" Ushuaia, Terra del Fuego, Argentina with the
intent to catch a ship, the Akademik Sergey Vavilov, to Antarctica.  (BTW, We succeeded and were able to
see the Falkland Islands and South Georgia as well!)  Pics of penguins are on the way!  But first...
Our great Tropical Birding guide, Andrew Spencer, continued the trip with us as we boarded our One
Ocean research vessel and set off to the Falkland Islands.
2/5-6/2015 Ushuaia, Argentina: For more on Ushuaia Click on NEXT PAGE below.  Upland Goose with
young, a very cool looking Tufted Tit-tyrant , the common but one of our favorite: Thorn-tailed Rayadito ,
Southern Caracara (juv and ad), a South American Tern caring for its young, South American Snipe ,
Grey-hooded Sierra-finch , and Rufous-collared Sparrow.  Also, a Rock Cormorant had a nest at the stern
of a wreck that was sitting in the Ushuaia harbor.
2/7/2015 Pelagic birding on the way to the Falkland Islands:  Between the rumbling ship motor, the
swelling waves, and the wind-whipped subjects, it was challenging but fun to try to catch these images.
White-chinned Petrel , Southern Royal Albatross , Southern Giant Petrel (dark juv and ad), Slender-billed
Prion , Great Shearwater , a possible Fairy Prion , and many beautiful Black-browed Albatross individuals.
