4/28+29/2012 We flew into Chengdu, China. After checking out the Bamboo Gardens and Giant Panda Breeding Center (see Panda and scenery pics under "ASIA - tourist pages"), we met up with Tang Jun of chinatibettravel.net who took us into the mountains for a wonderful trip searching for pheasants/partridges/snowcocks etc.... We saw an amazing array of birds with a big thanks to Tang Jun whose hearing and eyesight was far beyond ours - THANKS, Tang Jun! (More on "Next Page" below.)

4/29/2012 Shown here: a Rosy pipit (well-suited to blend in with the rocks), a Red-faced Rosefinch pair (or Red-fronted Rosefinch ), a White-capped Redstart (brilliant bird!), a White-winged Grosbeak , and a Yellow-billed Chough. We were treated to a very cool Lammergeier fly-by along with some Himalayan Griffins. A large flock of Grandala was feeding and the slope was covered with blue, but there were many more females than we first thought! Also shown, a Brandt's Mountain Finch in a stream.

4/30/2012 Bamboo Gardens, Chengdu, China: Black-crowned Night Heron nests in the Bamboo were busy as were the Little Egret parents. Also shown: an Intermediate Egret. If you go - bring a hat!

5/5+6/2012 Beijing, China: We were being tourists mostly but did catch a few birds with the camera: a Little Bunting , a Black Swan family taking a bath, and many Common Magpie individuals throughout the city. Next time we are going for the birds!
