| 12/30/19 Las Vegas, Nevada: We drove to Lake Mead NRA to see the reported Barrow's Goldeneye and believe there was a male (also seen by an ebirder) as well (tho we didn't see the shoulder mark - hybrid?) among the many Common Goldeneyes. (First pic is the whole group with the BAGO male highlighted in the center of the close-up next pic (note face patch and back pattern), then two pics of the BAGO female with the yellowish bill. Also, Ring-billed Gull, just some of the Common Goldeneye flock, and California Gull . |

| 1/1/20 Las Vegas, Nevada: What a great way to spend New Year's Day! We were treated to wonderful looks of Wilson's Snipe , Verdin , Greater Roadrunner , American Wigeon , Kildeer , Hummingbird TBD - probably Costa's, Green-winged Teal , Mallard , and also caught Northern Flicker , Northern Mockingbird , Orange-crowned Warbler , and a distant Phainopepla (m). |

| 1/1/20 Las Vegas, Nevada: A Gadwall study - we don't get to see Gadwalls very often and these were so busy eating, they didn't care if we watched them! There were at least two pairs wandering a nearby ditch. |

| 12/26/2019 to 1/13/2020 We had a grand trip out west via Colorado and Nevada to see family for the holidays (birding a bit on the side), then went on to chase some rarities. We searched for the Rose-ringed Parakeet in Bakersfield and the Garganey being seen in CA, the Ruddy Ground-dove and Rosy-faced Lovebird in AZ, and the Black Rosy-Finch and the Common Crane in NM. It was great to visit these spots and we were able to see all of these special birds except the Common Crane (which was like looking for a Waldo amidst the huge number of Sandhill Cranes)!
