| 2/17-25/2016 A wonderful camping trip took us south to the Everglades National Park, FL. From there, we wandered north via various parks. We caught a Buff-bellied Hummingbird near Homestead, nesting Osprey and a Great White Heron in the Everglades, American Bittern at Green Cay, and hunting Snail Kites at Indian River Wetlands among many other birds. | 2/17-25/2016 Wakodahatchee Wetlands and Loxahatchee NWR, FL: We watched Wood Stork individuals stealing sticks for their own nests, saw a Great Egret in breeding plumage , and also caught Purple Gallinule , Little Blue Heron , Limpkin , one of two Great Horned Owl chicks in the nest, Red-winged Blackbird (m+f) ready for Spring, Great Blue Heron already with two chicks, Double-crested Cormorant likewise with young, and a Cattle Egret in breeding plumage. |
| 2/17-25/2016 Wakodahatchee Wetlands, FL: An Anhinga study. These are such fascinating birds! Also, two unusual birds: a distant White-faced Whistling-duck and a nesting Neotropical Cormorant. |
| 2/17-25/2016 Green Cay, FL: Two very tame American Bittern individuals were seen hunting the marsh and we spend all our time waiting for them to show themselves! |
