10/15/15 Amelia Island and Huguenot Mem. Park, FL: The light has been brilliant this week! A young Great Blue Heron was hunting a watery forest, then we caught one checking out sunrise from a safe perch. Also: Snowy Egret , Great Egret , White Ibis , Forster's Tern (with Caspian behind it), and a Caspian Tern study.

10/15/15 Amelia Island and Huguenot Mem. Park, FL: What brilliant light! Northern Mockingbird. Lesser Black-backed Gull, Osprey , Red-bellied Woodpecker , Reddish Egret , Royal Tern (with juv and Caspian Tern), and a Sandwich Tern . Also, a Common Grackle stopped by to show off.

10/15/15 Amelia Island and Huguenot Mem. Park, FL: We caught a Black Skimmer flock in the wonderful morning light along with Black-bellied Plover individuals.

10/25/15 Amelia Island, FL: First, an interesting bird found at Ft. Clinch. It was suggested that it might be a leucistic Brown-headed Cowbird (Thanks 'Brdbrain' voters!). Some also considered Blue Grosbeak, or Bobolink and all three are shown for comparison's sake. It made us realize how much we personally depend on color to ID a bird! Also, White-eyed Vireo (what a beauty!) , Red-shouldered Hawk , a backyard Osprey with a fish, and a Northern Mockingbird munching on berries.
