6/22/2015  Palo Alto, California, USA:  A morning visit to two parks yielded a few goodies we don't get to
see on the East Coast.  A Dark-eyed Junco (Oregon dark phase with juv. and begging cowbird), Bewick's
Wren , California Towhee, House Finch , and Black Phoebe .  Also ran into two juvenile Red-tailed Hawks
that were quite tame and continued to hunt around us while we photographed them and a distant Bushtit .
6/21/2015  Farallon Islands, California, USA: The most abundant bird we saw was definitely the Common
Murre . Below, a study of this elegant bird and its colony.  Also shown, Brandt's Cormorant , Black-footed
