2/5/2015 to 2/27/2015 We flew to the "End of the World" Ushuaia, Terra del Fuego, Argentina with the intent on catching our One Ocean ship, the Akademik Sergey Vavilov, to Antarctica via the Falklands and South Georgia. Our Tropical Birding guide, Andrew Spencer, was very knowledgeable and we were pleased to have him help us identify all we saw. (Click on NEXT PAGE below to go back in time and see Gentoo, Magellanic, Rockhopper and more King Penguin colonies.)

2/13/2015 Prion Island, South Georgia: The brief stop was simply too brief. A Southern Giant Petrel was caring for a chick while Wandering Albatross pairs were nesting nearby. Gentoo Penguins and Giant Skuas were also going about their business.

2/14 and 15/2015 We left Prion Island and headed to Gold Harbor, South Georgia: A smaller King Penguin colony was waiting for us (compared to the larger one Salisbury Plain - Click NEXT PAGE below) with young male Elephant Seals and Fur Seals as well. Also, Northern Giant Petrel and White-chinned Petrel.

2/14 and 15/2015 On the way to the Gold Harbor area, South Georgia: Macaroni Penguins were seen porpoising the waters (we saw only one on land). Also, Grey-headed Albatross, Gentoo Penguins porpoising, and Kelp Gull.

1/30/15 to and 4/6/15 Nassua County, FL: We interrupt this program to add our Great Horned Owl family pics. The two chicks are adorable and have grown so much.
