9/28/thru 10/4/12 Borneo - A trip of a lifetime to Sabah, Malaysia (tho we hope to go back!) was made with
a special thanks to Jason and John at http://horukuru.blogspot.com who were both wonderful birders
and guides.  Thanks so much, guys!  They also organize the yearly Borneo Bird Festival which looked
wonderful but we had to miss due to travel.  We birded some in Sepilok Reserve, on the Kinabatangan
River, Mt. Kinabalu and the coast near Kota Kinabalu.  Each place was fabulous!
9/30/12 Kinabatangan River, Borneo:  A marvelously tame little Blue-eared Kingfisher allowed us quite
close.  Also, Blue-throated Bee-eater pair, Black-naped Monarch , Black-and-yellow Broadbill ,
Black-and-red Broadbill , and a White-fronted Falconet (formerly, Bornean Falconet) pair (they were
catching huge flies and eating them.)
9/30/12 Kinabatangan River, Borneo: A Crested Serpent Eagle was hanging by the water while a
Bushy-crested Hornbill flitted by.  We witnessed a Brahminy Kite pair having drinks and a quiet
rendezvous on the river banks.  Also, an Ashy Tailorbird skulking about.
9/30/12 Kinabatangan River, Borneo: Shown:  a Pacific Swallow study , a Oriental Pied Hornbill , a Lesser
Fish Eagle ,  a Lesser Adjutant with its wings spread, and some Cattle Egret at the local hangout.
9/30/12 Kinabatangan River, Borneo: As the light faded, a Rhinoceros Hornbill flew in.  We were thrilled to
see it and made the best of the poor light!
