7/22-26/2012  A trip to the Tibetan Highlands via Xining, Datong, Qinghai Hu, and on to Tsaka (Caka)
offered us some wonderful views and some great birds.  A big thanks to Tang Jun, our guide who has
amazing eyesight! Shown:  Blue-fronted Redstart , White-capped Water Redstart or White-capped
Redstart , Gray-backed Shrike and with juv., Gansu Leaf Warbler , Elliot's Laughingthrush , Common
Kestrel (juv.) , Hume's Groundpecker or Ground Tit , Brown Dipper , Hodgson's Redstart and probably
Hume's short-toed Lark in flight.

amazing eyesight!  The Blue-eared Pheasants were distant but were fun to watch.  Also: Black Redstart ,
Carrion Crow , Common Pheasant (note the lack of white ring at neck but considered same species as
Ringed-necked Pheasant ), Common Rosefinch (f+distant m) and Common Stonechat or Siberian
Stonechat , and many wild flowers!

Siberian Rubythroat , Tickell's Leaf Warbler , and a Twite feeding a juvenile. Also shown, a White-browed
Rosefinch (f).
