1/23/10 Brigantine, NJ: A Northern Goshawk has been hanging at Brigantine and we were thrilled to catch
a fly-by! Also a Savannah Sparrow , Ipswitch adult, was found and gave us great looks. Mallard
(m,sleeping; f,flight) , Snow Geese (with Blue Goose) , Hooded Merganser (m,f,flight) , Northern Harrier , A
Red- tailed Hawk interaction (caught while looking for the N. Goshawk - distant but interesting!)
1/23/10 Brigantine, NJ: A few more sights: Northern Shoveler , Northern Pintail , Mallard , Mute Swan ,
Snow Goose , Northern Harrier and a female Hooded Merganser at sunrise along with a Yellow-rumped
Warbler peeking out of a pine tree. The light was just gorgeous!
1/26 and 1/31/10 Hockessin and Pike Creek Area, DE: An Eastern Bluebird was thinking SPRING (aren't we
all!) He was checking out a possible cavity when a female popped out. After they flew off, then another
male came out with ANOTHER female. Quite a party. A Downy Woodpecker checked out the same hole and
was run off. A Red-tailed Hawk had a rabbit up in the brush which it lost as the carcass sank down into the
bramble. Luckily the bird let it go! A Northern Cardinal was still finding berries in the cold weather.
