1/9/2010 Conowingo Dam, MD A quick trip snagged us a Winter Wren and a Common Merganser flock in
flight. Also a Song Sparrow and a Bald Eagle were out in the frigid temperatures.
Yes, more from our 12/30/09 -1/2/10 trip to FL: We discover a Red-shouldered Hawk comes in all shapes
and colors - interesting! Also: Wood Stork , Short-tailed Hawk (light) , White Ibis , and Tri-colored Heron.
1/10/10 Conowingo, MD again - we tried for a better Winter Wren shot. Got off a couple of shots and he
vanished. But a Brown Creeper was making the rounds. Bald Eagles were about as well as a Hermit
Thrush and a Golden Crowned Kinglet who found a frozen spider. He tried to hide behind a stick and
make short work of it, but the spider was obviously frozen stiff! Also, female Common Mergansers in flight.
More from Fl trip 12/31/09-1/2/10 (Click next pages for S. Florida rarities etc...) A Double-crested Cormorant
caught a catfish and had to be quick to keep his breakfast.  Also, an American Bittern was sighted but
wouldn't come out to play.
More from Fl trip 12/31/09-1/2/10  Wood Stork , Pied-billed Grebe , Black-crowned Night-Heron , Great Blue
Heron , Black Vulture , TV kettle, a Common Moorhen taking a bath, Anhinga, (m+f) busy making a nest
already.
More from Fl trip 12/31/09-1/2/10 (A very cool trip. Click next pages for S. Florida rarities etc...) Our smaller
camera seemed to be a bit "color happy" - we tried to tone it down as it did capture the Sora feeding on
tiny worms (one of three Sora we saw) and a beautiful Blue-winged Teal contrasted in green algae.
