12/6/08 A beautiful morning at Conowingo Dam, MD had Bald Eagles swirling about the skies, diving, and
catching fish. Ring-billed Gulls were busy competing for breakfast as the mist rose off the river.
Woodpeckers were about in the woods where we caught an obliging Northern Flicker and a Brown
Creeper, but it was a Golden-crowned Kinglet that stole our hearts.
11/24-26/08 Our travels took us to Florida. Here are some more pictures from that trip. (See next page
for Sora and Least Bittern) We saw Wood Ducks, Green Herons, two beautiful Eastern Meadowlarks at
sunrise, Kingfishers, Ruddy Turnstones, Eurasian-collared Doves, many Blue-gray Gnatcatchers,
Grackles, Caracaras, Roseate Spoonbills, Loggerhead Shrikes, Osprey, Red-shouldered hawks, White
Ibises, Snowy Egrets, and three displaying Sandhill Cranes at sunset. (Unfortunately the light did not
allow for great pictures but it was SO interesting to watch, we wanted to share them!)
11/24-26/08 MORE pics from Florida!  We had a couple fabulous days around Vero Beach and Palm
Beach: Purple Gallinule, Wood Stork, Common Yellowthroat, Belted Kingfisher, Hooded Mergansers
displaying (that was one special little female!) Common Moorhen, Blue-winged Teal, Green Heron, and a
Pied -billed Grebe with junior. DC Cormorant with turtles, Roseate Spoonbills in flight, Snowy Egret,
Least Bittern, Red-winged Blackbird, and a study of Palm Warblers which were abundant but very shy.
Early December, 2008: Conowingo, MD and the Bald Eagles - always a WOW for us!
