9/28/thru 10/6/12 Borneo - A trip of a lifetime to Sabah, Malaysia (tho we hope to go back!) was made with
a special thanks to Jason and John at http://horukuru.blogspot.com who were both wonderful birders
and guides.  Thanks so much, guys!  (They also organize the yearly Borneo Bird Festival which looked
wonderful but we had to miss due to travel.)  We birded some in Sepilok Reserve, on the Kinabatangan
River, Mt. Kinabalu, and the coast near Kota Kinabalu.  Each place was fabulous!
10/3/12  On the road back to Kota Kinabalu from Mt. Kinabalu, Borneo:  Seen: A male Olive-backed
Sunbird , a rare treat of three munia species taking a bath together (Dusky Munia , Scaly-breasted Munia,
and Chestnut Munia (or Black-headed Munia)) , a Common Iora , a Dollarbird, a Brahminy Kite in flight, a
lone Blue-naped Parrot , a White-breasted Woodswallow pair , a Wandering Whistling Duck flock , and a
Wood Sandpiper hunting for food in a field by the road.
9/28/thru 10/6/12 Our trip to Sabah, Borneo was fantastic.  10/4+5 were spent exploring the mountains,
along the coast north of Kota Kinabalu, and the nearby islands.  Shown:  Orange-headed Thrush (formerly
Orange-cheeked Thrush), Olive-backed Sunbird , Mountain Imperial Pigeon , Zebra Dove (juv.), Crimson
Sunbird , Cinnamon Bittern, Whiskered Tern , Green Imperial Pigeon , Chestnut Munia (Black-headed
Munia) , and a fleeting look at a Lesser Adjutant .
9/28/thru 10/6/12 Our trip to Sabah, Borneo was fantastic.  10/4+5 were spent exploring the mountains,
along the coast north of Kota Kinabalu, and the town's nearby islands.  Out on one of the islands, it was
fun watching a Pacific Reef Egret fishing for lunch!
